On September 10th, 2016, Renstar was proud to be the presenting sponsor at this year’s Ocala Walk to End Alzheimer’s in beautiful Tuscawilla Park.
Eight hundred ninety registered walkers including 83 teams completed a one or two mile walk around the park. Renstar’s pre-walk breakfast was shared with all the participants and was a tremendous hit. The flower ceremony was emceed by 98.5 KTK’s Storm Roberts and highlighted 4 individuals who were all somehow affected by the disease. Carol Jackson, recruitment supervisor, spoke to the crowd on behalf of Renstar Medical Research on how the company works endlessly, through their ongoing clinical trials, to find a cure for the disease.
This year marked Renstar’s Chief Operating Officer Aaron Campo’s first time attending the event.
“The flower ceremony was the most memorable part of the event for me. Hearing the stories of those who have struggled with the disease, whether it was a family member, a caregiver or an actual patient, really resonated with me in a way I will never forget,” Aaron said. “It was very touching, and illustrates the fact that the disease affects more than just the individual diagnosed. ”
Debbie Henderson, one of Renstar’s certified clinical research coordinators who works on various Alzheimer’s clinical trials, felt this year was very special because of all the involvement of co-workers. Renstar had a total of 30 walkers on their team, the highest in Renstar’s walk history.
“It was so great to see that our community is really behind the cause and that each year it gets bigger, which means more money to fight the fight,” Debbie said.
All the teams who were registered for the walk have until the end of the year to fundraise. All proceeds go to furthering the care, support and research put forth by the Alzheimer’s Association.
Renstar is already looking ahead to the Ocala Walk to End Alzheimer’s in 2017. We hope to see everyone there!
